About Our Project: On March 2, Spence Elementary students will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America Day with an All-School Read-A-Thon.  Students are collecting pledges from family and friends for reading all day. Reading activities can include reading with buddies, to ourselves, listening to reading, reading in forts, reading in pajamas, listening to celebrity readers, reading big books, and much more.

Donations will be accepted February 2 through March 1, with all students receiving a brag tag for participating in the reading activities on March 2. Students collecting donations or pledges of any amount will be placed in a drawing for many individual prizes awarded throughout the day. Students with pledges of $50 or more will receive a drawstring “I Love Reading” book bag. With $100 or more in pledges, students will get a Barnes and Noble gift card. Classrooms with a $20 per pupil average will receive an ice cream sundae party (donations provided by Kwik Trip and Festival Foods) and the classroom with the highest per pupil donation will receive a pizza party.

All donations are greatly appreciated as we experience the joy of reading, expand our minds and support our school!

Where Your Donation Goes: The money collected will go to the Spence PTO to fund projects, assemblies, field trips and classroom needs throughout the school.

All donations to LPEF are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged via letter. LPEF adds a small surcharge to offset credit card processing fees and related expenses.

  • If fundraising falls short of the goal, money will be used to fulfill as much of the project as feasible.
  • If fundraising exceeds the goal, the project will be expanded or money will go to a similar purpose at the same school.
