About This Project:

Our FCCLA project is all about promoting differences in schools. This includes different genders, sexualities, disabilities, races, ethnicities, religions, etc. We are asking teachers from Northside Elementary what books they would like available to their students that will help everyone feel seen and heard. Once we receive the list of titles, we will order as much as we can with the amount that we raise. We feel this is extremely important for today’s youth because everyone should be treated equally, and that starts with children! Books can heavily influence and impact the mind of a student and should send the right message. We are currently doing research to show the benefits and outcomes of having literature that represents each and every child in the classroom. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to make this happen.

Where Your Donation Goes: Books! We are working to get a deal with Barnes & Noble and Scholastic to lower the cost.

Other sources of revenue: Currently our club is working with Barnes & Noble and Scholastic to find a way to lower the cost for a bulk order. We also plan to have small fundraisers of our own, such as bake sales for the basketball games, an all-school assembly, and flyers around Logan and throughout the community promoting the project.

All donations to LPEF are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged via letter. LPEF adds a small surcharge to offset credit card processing fees and related expenses. For more details, go to our About Support-a-School page.

  • If fundraising falls short of the goal, money will be used to fulfill as much of the project as feasible.
  • If fundraising exceeds the goal, the project will be expanded or money will go to a similar purpose at the same school.
