Summary: Encourage students at North Woods International School to read and provide fundraising support for the Amity Intern Program through the school’s annual Read-a-Thon, to be held on Thursday, March 5.

About My Project:  Money raised during our Read-a-Thon will be used to provide partial funding in support of next year’s Amity interns.  Amity interns provide instruction in Spanish and increase international-mindedness in all students through the relationships they build with students, and by sharing their culture and traditions. As we move forward with the International Baccalaureate program, Spanish and Global curriculum strands will be merged. Our Amity interns are needed more than ever, as all students will eventually receive instruction in Spanish. Total cost for the Amity intern program is $15,300 per year, and our Read-a-Thon goal is to raise $5,000. Students are encouraged, but not required, to find sponsors to support their reading.  All students, however, are welcome to join in the fun on March 5th! • If fundraising falls short of the goal, money will be used to fulfill as much of the project as feasible.
• If fundraising exceeds the goal, the project will be expanded or money will go to a similar purpose at the same school.
