The Bowtie Raffle carries on the name of our beloved Charlie Miller Bowtie Classic Golf Outing that was named in honor and memory of Dr. Charles Miller III, a co-founder of LPEF and a longtime member of the Board of Education in La Crosse. Dr. Miller, who was known for his signature bowties, died unexpectedly while playing racquetball in May 2011. From 2014 – 2025, the Bowtie Classic raised impactful support for public education, with the generous involvement of Dr. Miller’s family and many community supporters along the way.
