Made possible through generosity from Sue and Fred Heuer, La Crosse Public Education Foundation is proud to announce the creation of a new endowed fund, the Pelton Heuer Fund for Educator Advancement.
Sue, Fred, and Sue’s father, Monte Pelton, all spent most of their working lives in various forms of education.

Monte was a teacher and coach at Logan Senior High, and later was the principal of Roosevelt Elementary and Logan Junior High. He later served as principal of James B. Conant Jr. High in Neenah, WI and passed away in 2006.
Sue is an alumnus of Harry Spence Elementary, Longfellow Middle, and Central High schools. She first taught in Maryland and Waukesha, WI before returning to La Crosse, where she taught at State Road, Longfellow, and North Woods before retiring in 2000. Sue continued her work in education part-time for 11 years in mentor program in La Crosse, doing training for CESA and supervising student teachers for UW-L. Fred spent his career as a computer programmer for Administrative Computing at UW-L.
While both Monte and Sue were able to earn advanced education degrees without incurring debt, Sue and Fred recognize this has become more difficult for educators. At the same time, changes in education make it ever more important for educators to continue to learn and grow in their chosen fields.
For these reasons, Sue and Fred have chosen to establish the Pelton Heuer Fund for Educator Advancement. The Pelton Heuer Fund will support educator training and professional development, with priority given to opportunities that allow an individual educator to pursue additional education credentials.
The generosity from Sue and Fred to establish the Pelton Heuer Fund is a meaningful investment in the education profession that will have an enduring impact on the School District of La Crosse and public education in our community. Learn more about LPEF’s endowed funds>>>>
