LPEF’s Annual Thank A Teacher Day – May 5, 2026

All teachers and staff in the School District of La Crosse are being recognized and celebrated today as part of the La Crosse Public Education Foundation’s annual Thank A Teacher celebration!

Before school begins on Tuesday, volunteers organized by the La Crosse Public Education Foundation will make special deliveries to all district buildings of breakfast items for nearly 1,000 teachers, administrators, and support staff throughout the School District of La Crosse.

This special Thank A Teacher Day event is made possible by the Carol Taebel “Thank A Teacher” Fund of the La Crosse Area Community Foundation, which Carol established in 2018 to recognize the dedication of teachers and the critical role they play in shaping the future of our next generation.

Educators and staff have been working so hard this school year to support students’ learning and growth, as well as their safety, mental, and physical well-being, and we’re so excited to be able to share appreciation for their dedication and care.” said Nell Saunders-Scott, Executive Director of the La Crosse Public Education Foundation. “Carol created the Thank A Teacher Fund to make sure teachers know how much their work and effort is appreciated, and we’re honored to put her generosity into action!

LPEF’s Thank A Teacher Day is held during National Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4 – 8. LPEF invites the public to join us in thanking educators and staff for their service to schools, students, and our community this week!
