Get ready to swing your partner and do-si-do — and just have a good time — on Saturday, Jan. 10 at a Benefit Square Dance to be held in the Concordia Ballroom, hosted by the Coulee Region Old Time Music Association.

All proceeds will go to the La Crosse Public Education Foundation to benefit string music programs in the School District of La Crosse.

Live music will be provided by: River City Strings — a string band of La Crosse school students; Prairie Smoke, which plays American and Celtic folk music; and Grand Picnic, a traditional string band. Chuck Lee from Grand Picnic is organizing the event.

Dances will be taught and called by Tim Jenkins.

Dancing and music starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Concordia Ballroom, 1129 La Crosse St.

Admission is $5 per person. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

SPECIAL OFFER: Free admission to any individual who donates a playable stringed instrument – one instrument = free admission for one person. Give the gift of music to a student. Find that violin, guitar, or dulcimer in the attic where it has been for years and give it new life. Instrument donations will be made at the door to the Coulee Region Old Time Music Association, Inc. (CROMA), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to old time music education. Instruments will not be appraised by CROMA. All instruments should be playable, complete with strings and, if it’s a violin, a bow.
